snowboard boots?

A. Boots are all about fit, so if you try some on and they feel like a glove they are the ones for you. If they are used, they are probably already "packed out" which means the foam has been crushed down - so I would be careful about getting ones that are already too tight - they won't get any bigger like a new pair of boots. Make sure to try them on with a good synthetic sock (Thorlo, etc). Most agree that the best are DC, Vans, Burton, etc Good Luck

What is the best snowboard boot for a woman who is sick of the pain and heel lift caused by my thirtytwo boots?
Q. I have had thirtytwo's for a couple of years...molded them to my feet...and have had nothing but feet cramps, extreme heel lifting...no control over my snowboard...and the worst pain I have ever been in. I just want good snowboard boots that can let me enjoy snowboarding like I used to. I need some good affordable suggestions. How about the kind of boot that is good for each of those brands you listed below?

My snowboard boots hang over the front of my snowbaord is this a problem?
Q. So I am 6'3'' and have size 13 Burton snowboard boots that I just bought today. Im pretty new to snowboarding but when I put my boots on and into my bindings my toes hang an inch or so over the front of the board. Is this a bad thing? Will my toes catch the snow and spin me out? Do I need to buy a wider board? Angling my bindings more is not an option please keep that in mind.
Asked by Adrian S - Sun Dec 9 18:18:24 2007 - - 8 Answers - 1 Comments

A. My boots slightly hang over my board too, but not that much. I think it's all relative to your board vs. boot size? My boyfriend is a size 11 boot and the guys at the store suggested he look into getting a wide board -like maybe the Custom Wide. Then the toes wouldn't hang over as much and catch the snow. I would suggest going to your local board shop and asking them.

Do My snowboard boots have to be the same brand as my bindings?
Q. I am about to buy a board off eBay but the bindings are burton. Do my boots have to be the same model or just Burton's? I have minimal snowboard experience, so can i just go with some cheap-o boots or Burton's?
Asked by Azmodel1 - Wed Feb 17 22:34:39 2010 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You want reasonably stiff & comfortable boots, but brand doesn't matter to match the bindings. The only thing you have to make sure of is that the bindings have a mounting plate that's compatible with the board (Burton boards have different mounts). If the boots aren't stiff enough, you'll have a harder time keeping the board under control. If they aren't comfortable, your feet will hurt & you'll be miserable.

How do I do up my snowboard boots?
Q. Ok, so I got Burton snowboard boots for christmas, and a new snowboard. I've only snowboarded for a year, but with rentals. I wasn't shown how to do them up, so I'm drawing a blank. The ones I got were...Burton womens 'Mint', I think. Does anyone know how to do them up so they're comfortable and done up right? P.S. Please don't say that if I don't know how to do up boots, I shouldn't be snowboarding.

A. all you have to do with those kind of boots is pull on the strings where its comfortable then lock the strings so it doesn't loosen then tuck them into the boot/lining and clip in and your ready to go

A. In most cases you're looking to spend around 700 give or take a hundred, depending if you get any deals or not. THe best time to get quality and save some dough would be the end of the season, that's when your local shops and the sites listed below put their gear up they couldn't sell for 50 to 70% off. - timed sales, you could get lucky though.

Eliminate preassure point in snowboard boots?
Q. I have tried several sizes/brands of snowboard boots - and feel strong preassure on the bone that sticks out on the inner side of the leg above hill (medial malleolus). Is there anything I can try to eliminate that? Are some lacing systems more forgiving then others?
Asked by Roman G. - Mon Dec 24 22:35:35 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. some of the new upper level Burton boots have an independent lacing system that allows you to tighten the upper part of the boot and lower part separately, to remove pressure from certain areas, also some boots have liners that you can bake in the oven then form to foot while hot to get a precise fit.

Which brand of snowboard boots are the least bulky?
Q. Hey Ok well i bought a used snowboard, and it came with medium burton freestyle bindings. I'm a 10.5 boot size, and while the bindings are supposed to fit up to size 11, i want to get the least bulky boots i can get so they fit better Which brand is the least bulky? also, would switching the toe strap with a cap strap help?
Asked by ... - Mon Jan 25 22:25:06 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well I think Salomon makes some of the best boots with the lowest profiles. Also since they're Burton bindings you know Burton boots are a safe buy. Dont get Northwaves, they are usually kinda bulky. *Also, If you feel like your boots barely fit into the bindings because you can barely strap in, you can also get straps that are longer. If you go to your local snowboard repair shop, and explain your problem, they probably have lots of spare parts and might be able to swap your straps for longer ones for cheap, probably around $20, and that would give you a little more room to fit into those bindings.

How do i wear lose snowboard boots?
Q. My snowboard boots are little too big for me.. when i go toeside to backside i can feel my heel lifting up quite a bit.. is there some little trick i can do to make sure this doesnt happen? because it is my boots and it is too late for a return/ refund
Asked by TrEMOR - Sun Feb 15 13:31:50 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. take advice from someone that actually KNOWS...don't ever double up on socks...trust me. I made the same mistake once with my second pair of snowboarding boots where I got them a half size bigger and when they got broken in i had a lot of heel lift. It didn't affect my control it just hurt my shins a lot on the long trails. My best advice to you is go to a pro board shop and they have these implants you can put in the heel of your boot that will lock your heel in. Also never tighten up your boots excessively...that's horrible advise...if you're already getting heel lift tightening your boots won't help because boots loosen up while riding anyways.

Who makes the best snowboard boots and bindings?
Q. I'm buying new boots and bindings. In your opinion who makes the best boots and bindings? Also I'm kindof worried whether I should stick to the same companyfor both the boots and bindings or if it's ok to use boots from one company and bindings from another? Thanks for the help!
Asked by eegabooga - Mon Dec 8 23:19:03 2008 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. When it comes to buying boots you should try and compromise between style and comfort. Last season I spent 3 months teaching and was pleased with the burton boots I had chosen, but they weren't the ones I wanted. Different companies have different fits, burton and thirtytwos tend to be quite a wide boot, but salomon tend to be narrower. If you have a narrow foot and really like a burton boot try to go for something more suitable for your foot, otherwise you could be in pain from poor fitted boots and therefore not ride and improve as well as you could. If you ask at your local shop they should have a good idea of the fits and always be sure to get something that feels snug so that you can wear them in, other than getting something that's… [cont.]

are snowboard boots a suitable substitute for snow boots?
Q. i'm looking for a pair of actual snow boots (not uggs because they get ruined in heavy snow) and noticed that snowboard boots are very cute compared to snow boots. i'm a college student so i want something decent to look at, not old-lady boots. i've never tried snowboard boots before so i'm wondering if they would work for me even though i don't snowboard

A. why would you need to lace them a "cool" way? You're snowboarding pants are going to cover them anyways, and no one is going to look at your boots.

Where is the cheapest place to buy snowboard boots and bindings?
Q. it can be an online store i'm trying to get boa boots in black and bindings in black i have the board just need new bindings and boots thx for the help all :) also are boa boots easy to use?
Asked by 11:00 PM - Mon Oct 15 15:26:39 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well first of all, Boa's are awesome. By far the best system I have ever seen our used. Price wise it depends a lot on the brand that you get. Also, buying this time of year is going to cost you more versus the end of the season or in the summer. However, I always look at froogle.com to see what I can find. Other sites I have found good deals on are trusnow.com, peterglenn.com, shopatron.com, and the-house.com. All are reputable companies that I have bought from in the past. Also, if you have a Zumiez nearby they have good deals from time to time. Just don't let them talk you into Burtons, they are pricey.

Q. My snowboard boots are a little too tight on the toes (they are just touching the ends of the inners). Can the inners be stretched or thinner replacements be purchased? Any recommendations on places in/near London would be much appreciated

A. i know ski boots can be heated. Snowboard boots maybe use an old "shoe stretcher" gadget to press it out in the tight spots or try carving the tight spots

How much do snowboard boots stretch?
Q. I am wearing burton imprint 2 boots and i've worn them about 3 times. haven't riden in them, just around for 10 minutes to slowly break them in. They definitely are tight and my toes just about touch. Will they stretch a bit to be good or should i go the half size up?
Asked by gdruken - Sat Nov 8 11:02:05 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The boots don't actually stretch the liners will become "packed" They'll pack a fair amount after the first few days of riding maybe around a half size in the width but they don't pack much length-wise. If your toes are actually touching I'd suggest you go up a half size just make sure your heels don't lift much when you make the boots tight. Last season I rode a pair Burton Rulers which are imprint 2's but they never packed length-wise so they just weren't that comfortable. I just bought a pair of Ions that are a full size bigger.
