A. If you have a large flat piece of wood or even hard cardboard lying around, you can use that to play with. It sounds like fun in Tennessee right now!

What snowboard brand is the best for the money?
Q. Im looking for a snowboard and im on somewhat of a budget, i want the best possible board for the cash. Any brands any people would steer clear of and ones they prefer? I have these three brands in mind burton, forum, and k2. For my bindings i hear alot of rave about flow bindings. I a beginner too.

A. the following brands are all good... K2 Forum DC Libtech Rome Ride Gnu Neversummer Nitro Capita do not go to a large chain like d i c k s sporting goods and get a board, the brands they sell at these stores like Lamar, LTD and sims to name a few are all junk don't but a burton unless you want to spend a lot of extra money for nothing as for flows, they tend to break a lot and if you want to get them look at the high end NXT's but don't get them if you plan on going into the park because there are plenty of other great park bindings

A. Check out you can find a cheap snowboard package (boots, bindings, and board), I would also recommend lamar as a starter board. They have a good lamar package on there for $270 with free shipping. It should be flexible enough for your weight and the 144 length matches your height. Hope this is helpful.

Q. I had been skiing since I was relatively little. I stopped because of an injury and then started up again recently. I haven't done any freestyle so I guess you could call me a beginner in that sense. I was wondering what kind of twin tips to get. Also I was wondering what kind of snowboard to get for a beginner. Aside from that do you guys have any tips for going off and landing jumps along with simple grinds and tricks?

What happened to the Salomon Lush snowboard and is it any good?
Q. I'm looking to buy a snowboard for my girlfriend. She's an intermediate boarder who mostly likes to freeride. I came across the 09 Salomon Lush but it seems Salomon has discontinued the model. Was it any good and do you think you can take this board all around the mountain?
Asked by JPham - Thu Sep 24 16:46:18 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Lucky you, a girlfriend that loves to ride! The Lush was a really good freestyle board and if she wants a pure freestyle model this will still be a solid choice. But...this is a VERY use specific board. Very little camber, centerred stance, wider width, lower sidecut, softer core, will all make it less than ideal as a freeride model. If she wants an all mountain board or a pure freeride board she can find something that will better suit her needs. If you post up her weight and shoe size we will all be able to better help her out.

What is the best brand of snowboard for me?
Q. So im 14, a girl, and 5'4. I really dont know much about snowboarding, i only went once, and it was 2 years ago. So i was wondering if any one would know what is a good size board for me. I mainly like to just cruise around the mountain, not big on tricks, or speed! Does anyone know what kind of snowboard would be the best for that too? Thanksss!

A. Check out the link in my source. Fill in your stats (make sure to find the right boot size, men's are listed first... it tricked me the first time) and it will show you some boards of all different brands suited toward your size and riding style. Burton is the most "popular" brand out there, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's what you should buy. I'm a fan of Forum, Rome, and some K2 boards. If you're really serious about getting a good deck, I suggest going to a good shop and doing a little hands on research. Talk to the sales people but don't let them talk you into the most expensive set up there is. I've had more than a few friends go once or twice and then go and spend $600 on this year's brand new stuff... and then end up only… [cont.]

What is the best brand of snowboard to buy?
Q. I want to buy my boyfriend a snowboard for Christmas but am unsure of what to buy him. I don't mind spending a lot of money, however I don't want to spend a lot unless it's a really great board. I would say he's an intermediate snowboarder. However, he really wants to start getting into it a lot more. We just bought a place up the mountains. I was looking at the Burton Custom X. Any suggestions?

A. The Lib Tech boards with banana technology are probably the best out there, look at the Skate Banana or the Travis Rice. You can take either anywhere on the mountain. The skate banana is an award winning board and the banana technology gives you amazing control, plus the magnatraction helps on icy days. These two boards are better than anything burton

Will the bindings of my old snowboard fit on a new burton snowboard?
Q. I am looking to get a new burton snowboard, but I was wondering if I could use the bindings of my old (off-brand) snowboard instead of buying new ones. I don't really want to pay the extra $100 for new bindings
Asked by Jerrrrr - Sat Nov 8 20:09:02 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you're referring to the new channel system (IST) of mounting your bindings you can still mount old style 3-hole type bindings on it. If you're spending cash on new IST based board you might as well get EST bindings from Burton to get the best out of it

what is the best way to wash a snowboard jacket?
Q. i have a light blue snowboard jacket, and it is getting dirty. it is a level 5 killtec jacket. it is breathable, waterproof, and windproof, and i don't want to wreck any of this! i was thinking of just running my washer through an empty HOT cycle to clean it of any detergents, then just running the jacket through a cold cycle with no detergent, and letting it air dry. the laundry tag on it says machine wash in 30 degrees on the permanent press cycle. no tumble drying, no drycleaning, no ironing. how does this sound? does anyone have any recommendations?

A. If the fabric has a membranous layer laminated on the back you will destroy the breathability if you put it in the drier. Since the instruction say not to put it in the drier, assume that it is a laminated fabric. Wash it in cool water, 30 C or 86 F or 303.15 K with a detergent that doesn't leave behind a residue (if you can smell it on the clothes, don't use it). then hang it to dry.

A. You might be able to get a pair of Bentmetal Biscuits or Rome Arsenals for that price... I think the rome 390's the cheapest you could find would be around 160, But those other two are both good choices I have them both on a few different boards. You should be able to find them on these sites. - timed sales, you could get lucky though.

what happens if snowboard is too big or small?
Q. I got my ideal snowboard size from one of those online calculators, but what happens if I buy a board that's too large or small for me? How far away from my ideal size can I safely go? I'm planning on buying a used board and looking for more options than what's available in my exact size.
Asked by drofnats - Fri Jan 15 20:07:46 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. there's no right or wrong "size" per say...the recommended size is designed so that the right board will distribute your body weight over the right amount of surface area for optimal speed, performance, and handling. You can fluctuate and if you get one too small you just won't go as fast, and your handling might be a little too tight, where as too long is the exact opposite, you'll go a lot faster, but handling will be harder on your legs. the one thing you must have correct however is the wide of the board...make sure you have no over-hang but also make sure it's not too wide otherwise you will not have a good experience and end up sitting down the entire time.

How to make a normal sticker stay on a snowboard?
Q. I have an unused snowboard and tons of stickers laying around. I was wondering if there was a way to waterproof them or something so i can keep them on my board without them peeling off. I bought these stickers from various stores but mostly Zumiez.
Asked by Phil - Wed Dec 9 20:03:55 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Put the stickers on and heat them up only a little, this will make the adhesive much more sticky. All of my stickers stay on with this method. In my opinion if its a brand new board i would only put on one or two but thats just me.

How many days does it take to learn how to snowboard?
Q. Hi, I'm going on the mountain for 2 days. I usually ski, but I decided to pick up snowboarding. I already read up beginner guides online, heelside/toeside and stuff. I will take at least one lesson and then practice. Will I be able to learn how to snowboard well in 2 days? Thanks!
Asked by Afternoon - Tue Dec 30 15:32:26 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. well if you have been skiing for a long time snowboarding will be harder to learn. with skis you were used to the independent movement of both your feet, now with snowboards when you go to move one of your feet, you will move your whole body and most likely you will fall, i went thru the same thing ... i was a skiier my whole life then decided to pick up snowboarding... i think you can pull it off in a couple days i did its harder to learn but easier to get better at... just take it slow, dont push yourself and once you get the feel of it you will be enjoying it probably even more than skiing ... hope this helped and good luck!!
