Q. I'm doing a highschool article and I need names for the current generation. They always dub the current generation with names like youtube generation and things like that what are some other names and what are the exact years and name of this generation. I basically need some nicknames for it kinda dumb question but I'm completely stuck right now.

A. I wouldn't get either. I would get the iPod touch 3rd generation 32gb. It is the same price as the 16gb of the 2nd generation (not on sale). It is worth the investment and I am actually answering this question using the 32gb 3rd gen. right now! Definitely worth it.

A. The new 8GB has the voice memo feature and landscape keyboard, which the previous ones do not have. You'll have a hard time finding a new 16GB. If you do find one, it will still be almost as expensive as the new 32GB because the discount is taken off the original price which was much higher than the new ones.

A. The 3rd generation has twice the RAM and a approximately 20% faster processor. That means snappier performance, better web browsing, and faster games. The next generation also skips the 16 GB and introduces a 64 GB. (I think anyone only needs a 8 GB, that's all I use and I filled up all my app screens and have 2 GB of music).

Q. I am getting an iPod touch for Christmas, and I'm most likely getting the 1st generation. From what I can see, there aren't that many differences between the 1st generation and 2nd generation iPod touch...I know of the volume control, the genius feature, and the rounded instead of flat body. I don't care about the body shape that much, but are there any other drastic differences between the 1st and 2nd generations of the iPod touch? i'm talking about speed, calibration, all that stuff. A. Cosmetic differences: 1st generation has a black bevel and a flat metal back. 2nd generation has a contoured metal back and wraps around and forms the front bevel. It's Wi-Fi port is also more low profile and stylish with rounded edges. Hardware and software differences: 2nd gen comes with the 2.x updates. It also has an external speaker for casual listening. The accelerometer is also more functional then the 1st. One major difference though is the inability to jailbreak the 2nd gen meaning no 3rd party apps can be installed. There is hardly any graphical enhancements, calibration is the same, and it runs smoother on some apps such as calendar and maps and all of that. A. The major differences: iPod touch 2G has bluetooth - which enables many things including peer to peer gameplay w/o wifi. Has an external speaker - doesn't sound that good, but it's nice not plug in headphones and share music with friends. iPod touch first generation does not have the above. Little things: The newer one is lighter. The battery supposedly lasts longer. You can call people with the 2g using VOIP and microphone/headphones. There are few apps that work on 2G only (b/c of bluetooth). But most apps should work on all models. But in terms of firmware, you can get the 1G and update it to the latest firmware and it'll be pretty much the same. A. basically, the first gen nano has lower storage than the second gen, and 3rd gen has the more, but now there is a 4th.. and so is the shape of all the nanos, the first and second gen have a slight difference in the edges, and color... But i'd recommend the 3rd or 4th gen ipod nano, you can watch videos AND play music with 8-16 gb of storage.. I work at Radioshack

A. No, I don't think so. I think the only change is the colors and the addition of the Product (RED) version. Still, the capacity remains the same at 1 GB and you continue to get the dock that comes with all 2nd and 3rd generation shuffles.

The 4th Generation has come out in 1987 with the realease of TurboGrafx 16, then got followed by Mega Drive (Sega CD) (32X) (CDX), Neo-Geo, Super NES, CD-i, Game Boy, Game Boy Pocket and the Game Boy Light, which came out in 1997. I mean that what you maybe want to know is when will the 8th Generation of gaming systems going to start. As every generation had about 10 years, i say that the new generation will come out in 2015. A. the difference between the 3g and 2g is the speed of the cpu... although it sounds weird... an ipod touch is basically a touch screen mac,,, the prcessor speed is faster in the 3gs then in the 2gs to help with running more advanced programs.

A. I had the same dilemma as you and here's the facts There are just a few differences between the first and second generation. The second generation has a built-in speaker and a volume rocker on the side. It also has better hardware which makes it run faster. There is also bluetooth capability that you can unlock with the new firmware (its an internal software upgrade) you can purchase for $10. Also there is also microphone capability when used with a headphone that has a microphone built in. In all honesty, its really not that necessary since those add-ons are minor conveniences and the speakers on mp3 players are not that great to begin with. A. The first that came to my mind was the price. The 16GB (2nd Generation) costs as much as the 8GB (1st Generation) which is really GREAT! The new touch is skinnier along with a new couple of of hardware features such as built in speakers, added battery life and volume buttons on the side. The software however is pretty much the same, not a lot of big changes there. If you are hesitating between the 1G and 2G, then the 2G is a must buy because it's cheaper and has more features.
