Q. Im looking for a snowboard and im on somewhat of a budget, i want the best possible board for the cash. Any brands any people would steer clear of and ones they prefer? A. the following brands are all good... K2 Forum DC Libtech Rome Ride Gnu Neversummer Nitro Capita do not go to a large chain like d i c k s sporting goods and get a board, the brands they sell at these stores like Lamar, LTD and sims to name a few are all junk don't but a burton unless you want to spend a lot of extra money for nothing as for flows, they tend to break a lot and if you want to get them look at the high end NXT's but don't get them if you plan on going into the park because there are plenty of other great park bindings

Q. I live in Toronto, Ontario and i get nervous and sad whenever the snowboarding/skiing season is ending. -I wanted to know how far north i would have to travel to be able to snowboard during the summer. -I am willing to drive by one province and possibly two. Other forms: How far north do i have to drive to be able to snowboard in Ontario? What towns are skiiable/snowboardable during the summer in ontario? What snowboarding/skiiing packages are offered for ontario snowboarding.

A. The closest place you could go snowboarding in the summer in Canada is Whistler. They have summer snowboarding camps on the glaciers there. The ski resorts in Alberta all close by May long weekend.

What is the best snowboard for a beginner?
Q. Im a beginner snowboarder looking for the best womens snowboard for a starter. I want something of good quality that can last me a while. Im about 5'3 and 105 lbs.

A. Check out you can find a cheap snowboard package (boots, bindings, and board), I would also recommend lamar as a starter board. They have a good lamar package on there for $270 with free shipping. It should be flexible enough for your weight and the 144 length matches your height. Hope this is helpful.

What is the difference between a snow jacket and a snowboard jacket?
Q. I'm going to learn to snowboard soon and I've been going around buying all the gear. So I've bought this jacket and it's a snow jacket. The thing is, it's a snow jacket but it did not specify that it was a snowboarding jacket. I've noticed that snowboarding jackets do have their look and I was wondering does it really matter which jacket I use? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!
Asked by Vivian C - Sat Feb 14 21:07:41 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Colors and style is about it. Some snowboarding jackets have a longer cut and fall closer to the knees to cover up the butt when snowboarders sit on the ground to buckle into their board. Aside from that, both a good quality snowboard jacket and a ski/snow jacket should be waterproof and breathable.

A. Some models of bindings are shaped like feet so for those it's pretty simple. The sure fire way to tell is that the buckles should ALWAYS be on the out side of your foot

What is the best brand of snowboard to buy?
Q. I want to buy my boyfriend a snowboard for Christmas but am unsure of what to buy him. I don't mind spending a lot of money, however I don't want to spend a lot unless it's a really great board. I would say he's an intermediate snowboarder. However, he really wants to start getting into it a lot more. We just bought a place up the mountains. I was looking at the Burton Custom X. Any suggestions?

A. The Lib Tech boards with banana technology are probably the best out there, look at the Skate Banana or the Travis Rice. You can take either anywhere on the mountain. The skate banana is an award winning board and the banana technology gives you amazing control, plus the magnatraction helps on icy days. These two boards are better than anything burton

How do I know whether a snowboard that is sold online is wide or not?
Q. I am attempting to purchase a snowboard online, but i don't know whether it's wide or not. I need a wide one and am wondering if there is anything that will tell me.
Asked by Jeremy H - Sat Nov 29 21:49:12 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Yeah it will clearly state if it is wide. There should either be an icon or it should be included in the name (almost always is). For example, it will be called "Burton King Wide". Good luck.

Should I worry about my snowboard breaking if it is in a snowboard bag on a plane?
Q. I am going to Utah snowboarding for the first time with a brand new board. How should I pack the snowboard to minimize risk of damage to my snowboard? Are airlines pretty good at handling snowboard baggage?
Asked by oneday - Wed Jan 28 19:41:01 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. There are snowboard bags made specifically for travel, which are more heavily padded than regular bags. Buy one. Then I would get some bubble wrap and fully wrap your board in it. Or as someone else already mentioned, wrap your clothes around it. I would also pay special attention to the nose and tail. I wouldn't trust baggage handlers with anything.

What Brand of snowboard is the best for your money?
Q. I am wondering what brand of snowboard is best for my money? Are Palmer, Burton, Ride, and K2 as good as they say they are?

A. All the brands you have mentioned are goods makes, and all four of those companys would have a board that would suit you and they type of riding you want to do. Palmer nowadays tends to make more freeride boards than anything else but they do still make freestyle boards, ive never ridden a palmer but alot of people rate them really highly especially freeriders. Ride,Burton and K2 make boards for all types and levels of riding and are all highly respected, but the only problem with the makes you have mentioned especially Palmer and Burton is that there boards can be a bit pricey at times and are not the best value for money. The best value for money board i can think of is the Atomic Hatchet seriously that board should be double the price… [cont.]

My snowboard boots hang over the front of my snowbaord is this a problem?
Q. So I am 6'3'' and have size 13 Burton snowboard boots that I just bought today. Im pretty new to snowboarding but when I put my boots on and into my bindings my toes hang an inch or so over the front of the board. Is this a bad thing? Will my toes catch the snow and spin me out? Do I need to buy a wider board? Angling my bindings more is not an option please keep that in mind.

A. My boots slightly hang over my board too, but not that much. I think it's all relative to your board vs. boot size? My boyfriend is a size 11 boot and the guys at the store suggested he look into getting a wide board -like maybe the Custom Wide. Then the toes wouldn't hang over as much and catch the snow. I would suggest going to your local board shop and asking them.
