Snowboarding is a sport that involves descending a slope that is covered with snow on a snowboard attached to a rider's feet using a special boot set into a flexible mounted binding. The development of snowboarding was inspired by skateboarding, surfing and skiing. It was developed in the U.S.A. in the 1960s and the 1970s by renowned extreme sports 'junkie' and snowboard expert Francis Wilkinson and became a Winter Olympic Sport in 1998. The first snowboards were manufactured by the modern day Burton Snowboards company. From Wikipedia under the

Q. hey i live in North Carolina so my snowboarding season is over. I will be wake-boarding a ton this summer . Though i've heard about these freebords which is supposedly snowboarding on concrete? anyone know how close it is to snowboarding and if it would make a good alternative over the summer or if i should stick with wakeboarding? Asked by ttops - Wed Mar 19 19:14:00 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Try kiteboarding. It rocks . Takes all the elements of wakeboarding & snowboarding ,add a bit of wind & blow your mind. Plus , you can also take the kite out on to snow for a whole new dimension to snowboarding. Q. My friend is going snowboarding for her first time, and she has really bad knees. Her knee caps are easily dislocated due to stretched out ligaments. Do you think snowboarding is too dangerous for her? Asked by Janna A - Sun Dec 21 00:14:57 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Is snowboarding too dangerous for her? But this can be easily solved. Just get a decent knee-pad (the ones you use for skateboarding and stuffs) from walmart, that will protect her knee very well. Just wear it properly under the pants. For myself, I use the volleyball knee pad, and that does the trick for me. Never really feel the impact if I fall on my knees. The skateboard knee-pads should offer even better protections. I think your friend should just try it out, and try hitting her knee to a hard surface. If she don't feel a thing,… [cont.] Answered by e1_86 - Tue Dec 23 11:09:56 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Snowboarding"
