Users of such equipment may be referred to as snowboarders. Commercial snowboards generally require extra equipment such as bindings and special boots which help secure both feet of a snowboarder, who generally rides in an upright position. These type of boards are commonly used by people at ski hills or resorts for leisure, entertainment and competitive purposes in the activity called snowboarding. A size and shape variance in the boards accommodates different people, skill levels, snow types, and riding styles. The average length varies between 140-165 cm and the average width is between 24-27 cm. Shorter boards are typically considered youth size, designed for use by children, though some varieties of short boards are specifically designed for a special purpose, such as the performance of snowboarding tricks. Such tricks may take place in a snowpark along side freestyle skiers. The development of commercial snowboards has seen the use of a laminated wood core sandwiched between multiple layers of fiberglass. The bottom or 'base' of the snowboard is generally made of various constructions of plastic, and is surrounded by a thin strip of steel, known as the 'edge'. The top layer, where a printed graphic may reside, can be made of Acrylic. GNU Free Documentation License My snowboard boots hang over the front of my snowbaord is this a problem? Q. So I am 6'3'' and have size 13 Burton snowboard boots that I just bought today. Im pretty new to snowboarding but when I put my boots on and into my bindings my toes hang an inch or so over the front of the board. Is this a bad thing? Will my toes catch the snow and spin me out? My boots slightly hang over my board too, but not that much. I think it's all relative to your board vs. boot size? My boyfriend is a size 11 boot and the guys at the store suggested he look into getting a wide board -like maybe the Custom Wide. Then the toes wouldn't hang over as much and catch the snow. Q. I'm looking to buy a new snowboard for next year. I typically like riding a very flexible springy board and riding park. Ive been looking at the Forum Manual which is there Jib and Rail board. I like the design and setup but I've been confused on the flex rating which says three. Does anyone know if this means the board has a softer flex or a stiffer flex? The Forum Manual is an excellent jib board. The flex is very soft and it is designed for jibs, rails, and boxes. Essentially, the Manual is the new name of the late Forum Jiblet. Aside from some cosmetic changes and the addition of 2 new sizes, they are the same thing. If a soft, buttery twin board is what you are looking for, you have found a good one. The downside of the Manual, if you also like to ride the mountain sometimes, is that the extruded base is not very fast. The Palmer Flash is similar to the Manual in many ways and has a faster base, so that would be my personal choice if i were in your situation.
